Episode 2

Live From A SafeHouse - Walking A Path Emerging

Every now and then, a song walks into the room revealing the journey an artists has been on.
I know the song, but hearing it live with just the piano…reassuringly familiar yet, It felt fresh for some reason.

Before the preamps warm up, before I could settle the mics in position, before we even count off—
we were present. This was going to be all in one take!.

Episode 2 of Live From A SafeHouse lives in that space.

This session wasn’t about chasing complexity or proving anything.
It was about an alignment—a heart posture set to melody. An engineer ready to capture it all.

Chans Thomas (Vocals) And Daryl “Cali” Hobbs (Piano)

The lyrics, simple, repetitive, and incredibly alive:

“My heart embraced
The will of God
My path aligned…”

Those words had became a mantra on the original record, but in the studio, we relieved a moment when it all made sense.
Every time they repeated, you could feel the room settle a little deeper.
Like the song was tuning us—engineers, musicians, cameras, and all—into something steady, warm, and grounded.

And then the lift:

“With His plans
With His thoughts
With His heart…”

There’s something beautiful about putting trust into the center of a groove.
Not the polished, perfect kind—
the vulnerable kind.
The kind that says, As I catch a glimpse I’m walking forward Him anyway.

When the Chans leaned into that line—
“I trust in Him,
My own ways don’t understand”

the take shifted from performance to prayer.
You could feel the sincerity in every breath, every note, every quiet moment before the next phrase.

Such moments like that don’t need heavy production.
They need space.
They need honesty.
They need musicians brave enough to let repetition become revelation.

Just like Episode 1, this second session reminded me why I even started this series in the first place:

I don’t care about creating “content.”
I care about capturing the kind of artistry that tells the truth—
softly, powerfully, and without apology.

So here’s Episode 2: a simple meditation elevated by the soulful Chans Thomas, a steady groove, and lyrics that sound like Proverbs wrapped inside a hook.

A song about alignment.
A song about trust.
A song about walking the path before you can see the whole route.
